Verdicts expected for Andi Kosasih, attorney

The South Jakarta District Court is expected to announce on Monday verdicts in the cases of graft suspect Andi Kosasih and his former attorney, Lambertus Palang Ama.

Andi was accused of conspiring with graft suspect and former low-level tax official Gayus Tambunan to reduce his companies’ tax payments.

The businessman alleged that Rp 28 billion (US$3.1 million) discovered by investigators in Gayus’ bank account was a payment for a land deal he made with Gayus.

Lambertus Palang Ama allegedly brokered the suspect land deal.

Prosecutors demanded that Andi be sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment and fined Rp 6 billion and that Lambertus be sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment and a Rp 150 million fine.

Prosecutors alleged that the land deal was bogus and falsified to appear as if it occurred before Gayus was involved in Andi’s case.
