Fans buy laser pointers for AFF Cup revenge

Indonesian soccer fans are apparently seeking to retaliate against Malaysia in the upcoming AFF Cup final match after the opposition allegedly targeted local players with laser pointers in the first leg of the finals on Sunday.

Several toy vendors in Jakarta said purchases of laser pointers and smoke balls had increased in recent days, TVOne reported Tuesday.

“May be supporters do not realize police have banned laser pointers,” one of the vendors said.

Police said they would punish soccer fans caught with sharp weapons, fireworks or laser pointers at the second round of the Asian Football Federation (AFF) Cup final at Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan on Wednesday.
