Lawyers of convicted child murderer Baekhuni alias “Babe” said Tuesday they will submit appeal documents to the Supreme Court in the next few days, after Babe was sentenced to death recently.
“We submitted a letter [to the Supreme Court] on behalf of Babe yesterday,” Babe’s lawyer Rangga B. Reikuser said Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
“Now we just need to complete the appeal documents.”
Rangga said the death sentence was not legitimate since he had not been informed that prosecutors had filed an appeal to overturn the previous life sentence verdict issued by East Jakarta District Court.
Last week Jakarta High Court sentenced Babe to death after he was found guilty of sodomizing and killing 14 children.
