The Jakarta police dismissed 38 of its officers in 2010, Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar says.

Of that number, 23 were dismissed for desertion, eight were involved in drug cases, and seven were dismissed for various forms of misconduct, including theft, receiving stolen goods, fraud,  and abandoning their spouse.

“They don’t have any rights any more in the police, in terms of salary, other rights and police attributes,” said Baharudin as quoted by Kompas.com on Monday.
