Legislators, police chief to meet Citibank representatives today

House of Representatives' Commission XI overseeing finance and budgeting is scheduled on Tuesday to meet with representatives of Citibank Indonesia in regards to a number of cases implicating the bank.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., commission deputy chairman Achsanul Qosasi told tribunnews.com on Tuesday.

Melinda Dee, a manager in the bank, has been accused of embezzling up to Rp 17 billion of customers' funds.

The bank has also come under the spotlight in connection with the death of one of its customers who was allegedly killed by debt collectors.

Representatives of Bank Indonesia and National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo are also scheduled to attend the meeting.

The meeting will discuss Bank Indonesia's monitoring function, legal protection for banking customers and the legal responsibility of Citibank regarding these cases.
