Earthquakes shake Gorontalo and Tual

An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, at 6.04 a.m. today.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of the temblor was 206 kilometers southeast of Gorontalo at a depth of 10 kilometers below sea level.

Also, at 1.59 a.m., another quake hit Tual, Maluku. The epicenter of this tremor was 280 kilometers northwest of Tual at a depth of 30 kilometers below sea level.

There were no reports of casualties or damage, and neither quake triggered a tsunami alert.
