Ships between Java and Sumatra are running smoothly this New Year’s Eve, despite a few hiccups, according to the nation’s top cop.
"The weather has been slightly unfavorable these few days, so Sumatra-Java and Java-Sumatra routes have experienced congestion but, thank God, everything has cleared up," National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo said from a helicopter on Friday while monitoring the situation.
Timur said that ships were proceeding smoothly between Merak port in Java and Bakauheni port in Sumatra.
Ground traffic in Jakarta and Bali was normal as well, Timur said.
